Bulova Accutron Calibrator
The Bulova Accutron Calibrator with External Fine Adjustment System (EFAS) is the world's first automatic timepiece that gives wearers the power to fine-tune its accuracy.
EFAS technology lets wearers themselves adjust the sensitive hairspring of the watch - without opening the case - maintaining an average of 99.99% accuracy in Swiss laboratory testing.
Precisely balanced, finely crafted mechanical watches can be affected by such factors as temperature, the age of the watch and the way it is worn and stored, with periodic visits to a technician necessary for peak performance. The Calibrator, however, permits wearers to achieve and maintain a personalized level of accuracy without the assistance of a professional.
The dial of the Calibrator includes a unique, easy-to-read Adjustment Gauge that allows wearers to visually track each modification as they adjust the timing. The minus symbol on top indicates a slower speed, with the plus symbol on the bottom indicating a faster speed. The three notches in either direction represent 5-second adjustments, for a maximum adjustment of 15 seconds faster or slower per day.
The EFAS Adjustment Key, which tightens or loosens the hairspring from the outside, fits easily into a port on the watch case next to the Adjustment Gauge. a gentle turn of the key, while referring to the gauge, is all that is needed.
